BPWFC CLUB HISTORY
Burton Park Wanderers Football Club was founded in 1961 as Kettering Park Wanderers.
Entry to league football in the Kettering Amateur league brought instant success as Division 2 Champions. By the middle of the decade Park Wanderers were competing in the top flight.
The senior Side were 1963 Lower Junior cup runners up to Woodford United while the reserves were area winners in 1966.
In 1968 The wanderers joined the newly formed Third Division of the United Counties League and finished 3rd in the league and won the knockout cup beating British Timken Reserves in the Final.
In 1969 Wanderers were promoted as runners up to Long Buckby.
In 1971 The Wanderers relocated to Burton Latimer and became Burton Park Wanderers playing on the recreation ground before switching to our present venue Latimer Park.
The mid 70’s saw the club reach the Junior cup final but were relegated form Division 1 to division 2 in the 1977-78 season. However, the division was disbanded two years later and they were returned to Division One.
In 1988–89 they were Division One runners-up, earning promotion to the Premier Division. Two seasons later they finished bottom of the Premier Division and were relegated back to Division One.
